Rothley Park has a thriving Senior Section comprised of gentlemen between the ages of 55 and 80+.

The Section is administered by a committee made up of an elected Captain, Vice-Captain, Treasurer and Almoner.

On most Mondays and Wednesdays there is a roll-up where any club member can participate in the draw for partners at the usual time of 9.00 am.  Groups of 3’s or 4’s then play individual matches.

As an alternative to a draw, other events such as Stableford and Medal Competitions are held on a monthly basis, some of which are qualifying for handicap purposes.  During the winter months other fun events are also organised, such as High/Low Am/Am’s, 6 Club Challenges, Eclectic and Foursomes Knockout etc.

The main summer season also includes many friendly but competitive matches against other local clubs.    Where matches are played under the jurisdiction of the Leicestershire Seniors Golf Society, the minimum age limit is 60, otherwise age 55+ is quite acceptable.  Each golf match ends with a meal and a drink with very good company in very pleasant surroundings.

The Senior Section also organises a Summer Away Day competition and a “Captains Away Weekend” later in the autumn.

In conjunction with the Golf Club, the Senior Section is responsible for assisting with the organisation of two Senior Open events namely:

Old John Senior’s Better Ball –    Thursday 9th August 2012

May I take this opportunity to inform all potential club applicants, who may now or in the near future qualify for a “Senior Status” within the club, to consider joining the Seniors” as a way of obtaining regular weekday social and competitive golf.   One of the many advantages of belonging to the Senior Section is that new members can get fully integrated into the section by playing in the roll-ups.

To be a member, there is an annual fee of £5.  This fee assists with reducing the expenses of organising the many events which take place during the year.

From personal experience, I can guarantee a very warm welcome to any new member who will find that £5 annual fee is the best investment ever made.
