Ladies Golf at Rothley
Rothley Park Golf Club has a very active Ladies section that started circa 1923. There are all age groups including Full Playing, Intermediate, Seniors, and Juniors. Our Ladies are very friendly and every effort is made to integrate new members into the membership.
Rothley Park is a County Green, holding numerous prestigious events throughout the year. The Ladies organise three Ladies Open competitions and one Ladies Invitation.
Ladies day is on a Tuesday when we have priority on the course until 2:30pm (1.30pm in winter). Those unable to play on Tuesdays have their competitions on an alternative designated day. This will normally be a Sunday or a Monday. On these days, there are regular medal competitions.
There are also numerous Club Trophies that are competed for during the main playing season. Some of these are stroke play but others are stableford, greensome, and foursome in format. On other days, all members can play providing there are no tee reservations. These are shown on notice boards.
On Saturdays there are some restrictions when Ladies can play to allow for Men’s Competitions. These are kept to a minimum.
Representative golf is played in the County scratch league 1st division, Handicap league 2nd division, Ladies County foursomes knockout and County Mixed Foursomes knockout. Friendly 1st and 2nd team matches, high handicap, senior and junior matches also take place during the summer months. Ladies of all standards of golf are given an opportunity to enjoy playing against other Clubs. Junior girls are encouraged to play in all competitions.
At whatever stage of golf you are able to play, highly competitive or social, the Ladies try to provide an opportunity for your enjoyment. Mixed social competitions are organised throughout the year. 9 hole competitions on Friday evenings are very popular in the summer. Meals are provided afterwards and weather permitting, include Barbecues.
Coaching
Coaching is available for all levels of ability. Group coaching is held throughout the winter for all age groups provided by our resident professional Danny Spillane and his assistant pro Katy Tebbet. Individual lessons are also available throughout the year.
